Weird black ring around face!

went outside to feed my older girls some treats. Noticed that my easter egger has developed a black ring. Maybe it's molting?

You say a black ring... around it's eyes or neck? My Americauna's have the blackish feather ring around their neck, and I know some chickens randomly get a darkness around their eyes like black eyes... I guess Im not seeing what you are pointing out?

I sort of see a lack of feathers on the head- maybe it was some squabbling in the flock or molting?
