Yesterday I thought she was over heating and cooled her off and put her back outside after it had cooled of outside. She started breathing hard again and I took her back inside for the night. All night as far as I can tell she was panting but did not seem really hot. When she pants she makes this kind of nastily sound. Like if a human had a little something in there throat.
What can I do is it normal?
Thanks,
Emma

Is it possible that she over heated and now is just having trouble because he body is stressed? She is back outside. It is morning and cool out. But she is still panting. Not making as much of a weird sound now though.

So now when she pants hard at all she makes the sound... Is she sick? She is still eating and drinking fine.

I kind of wanted to add to my flock but because of her I do not think I will. If she is sick.

She may have something lodged in her neck...does she shake her head and stretch her neck?

Is she is making strange noises when she opens her beak ....a rasping sound? She may have gapeworm if she shows this sign...when was she last de-wormed?

Is her comb bright red and looking normal ?

The more information you can give will help others to offer suggestions....

She makes the sound when she opens her mouth but not all the time. So I guess I will de-worm her. I just got them and do not know when they were last de-wormed. I should have ask... What do you use to de-worm them? I have heard of putting garlic in the water but does that really work?
Thank you so much for the advice!

Oh and yesterday her poop was a little watery...

Safeguard de-worming paste is one that is very effective.

No...garlic...DE nor any home "remedy" will deal with a chicken that has worms...
