So we have this chick, she's approximately 6 weeks old, we've been trying to figure out what's wrong with her beak. At first it looked like her top beak was growing too quickly but now we think that the bottom one may have broken because the visible part has not grown in weeks. Underneath the little bottom beak, there's a growth with swelling under her skin. When examined its hard and seems like she is trying to use that as her bottom beak.
We just attempted to trim her top beak as it's curling down too much making it difficult to eat, and accidentally cut into the quick. We finally managed to stop the bleeding. We were wondering if anybody has seen this before?
Could it be an ingrown bottom beak? Haven't been able to identify what it is and can't afford to take her to the vet.
