Weird bugs and weird feed from TSC

Can someone explain to me what the heck I just bought??

this bag is new from TSC - it’s the chick starter/grower and it’s not right.

it looks like wild bird food mixed with powered chicken food and there are all these bugs in it.

No holes in the bag they came with it.

I was able to get a new bag of food but I already dumped it in my containers.

Is it okay to still feed????

my chickens are 7 weeks and 15 weeks.

Looks like scratch or bird seeds got mixed in at the plant, you can feed it to your babies or wait until their bigger. The chickens won't mind the bugs. Can you find the mill date of the bag?

That somehow got a mix of different feeds in it. I see scratch as well as normal chicken feed and the powdered chick feed.*

So it's not the freshest stuff ever but it should be fine. Could also be the bottom of a tank since it's powder/pellets. The tractor supply brand tends to be powdery for some reason.

Chickens love bugs, but chicks may have a harder time with the larger pieces.

Take it back to the store. TSC doesn't want to sell bad feed. Let them know and something can be done at the source (Purina). I would never give it to my birds. Sure, chickens eat seeds and bugs, but who knows what might be in there. It could be mold or any other contaminant.

They told me to not worry about returning the actual product but they would make sure it was noted as a defective product?

If you don't want to give it to your chickens (and I might not), you could add it to your compost pile in layers or scatter it for wild animals.
