This same thing has happened to my polish hen when she was young, and again recently when an aggressive young cockerel totally scalped her, and I found her in a ditched dazed and lethargic. I used Neosporin on the scalp wound for several days, then started using BluKote spray. The scalp wound was covered in a brown hard scab that fell off after 2 weeks, then underneath, the new feathers came in, and by 4 weeks she had head feathers and was good as new. You just have to keep them separated for several weeks so those new feathers aren't too tempting.
