Weird chicken egg...

My parents got into chickens about a year ago and love it!! They called me tonight for help so since they aren't too good with the internet I found this lovely website and hopefully can get them some answers.

One of their chickens laid this extremely weird looking egg. They said that looks and feels like silly putty and that this is the first time this had happened...

Does anyone have any idea of what this could be or what is going on with their chicken?

Oh dear that doesn't look like good news. I've actually never seen anything like that.
Do you know how old the hens Are? What are they being fed?
Has anything traumatic happened to the chickens in the last 48 hours?

She is 2 years old, she is eating Purina Omega 3, and nothing traumatic has happened. The only thing that has changed recently is that they got rid of some of their chickens and got new babies, and that was about 4 weeks ago.

My guess is stress may have caused her to lay whatever that is. And they are positive she laid it? Its not a piece of trash or anything? If she acts weird or lays another one let us know ASAP.

They know it isn't a piece of trash because of the way their chicken house is set up, and they did say that she hasn't been eating as much, thats all as far as acting weird.
