Hopefully the problem gets resolved and your chicken recovers. The people here have been giving really good advice, so I don’t have anything else to add.
I’ve learned the hard way that calcium is really important in a consistent laying birds diet. One of my quail almost died from it, she tried laying a soft-shelled egg and ended up partially egg-bound with prolapse. I now supply crushed baked eggshells, shell grit and crickets, all dusted in calcium, and have them on a layer feed.
If you see your chicken ‘straining’ or struggling with her eyes closed for long periods of time, she could be egg bound. If she’s pooping then she isn’t egg bound. For a while after having a stuck egg a bird will have trouble pooping. I don’t mean to worry you or anything, not sure if this is common or not.
Keep us updated!
Hope this helps and your bird ends up ok.
