today was pretty cool cause I saw Olive lay an egg.
She sat on the three eggs that some of her fellow flock members had already laid and moved them around under her. Olive is an 11th month old golden wyandotte. Then, Mya, my EE, came and sat in front of Olive and kept sticking her head under olive, while pecking on a few of the eggs. Then She laid and egg. Dont chickens like privacy while laying their eggs? I dont know- I though it was strange but mabey it isnt?
Our nest boxes dont have dividers ( my dad never got to that part) So are they more used to less privacy? Here's a pic before Mya laid her egg:
