I just got 4 buff orpingtons chickens one week ago.2 of them are around 2 yrs old and the other 2 I think this is there first laying season. The previous owner said they were all laying. I'm only getting 1-2 eggs a day and have found a shell less egg twice. Why is this happening .

I'd say that firstly the stress of moving can depress egg production. If you are feeding them layers feed and optional oyster shell (even if not the latter, it should be fine) then I am honestly not sure. Its not impossible that maybe one of the chickens is new to laying and soft shell eggs are not uncommon. It may help if you can state how old they are, how many you have also. Other members will undoubtedly be along soon to provide more advice.

    All the best
