Is this de pluming mites or something else? And how would I get rid of them?

So you see any mites? Could be from not getting enough nutrients.

I don’t see any. I did treat them for lice a few months ago and was pretty sure I got rid of them. Maybe they came back? I feed them nutrena all flock feed so I would think they’re getting everything they need plus they’re free ranging and get kitchen scraps.

Okay! Maybe there are some still on here. How often do you do the kitchen scrapes? I would keep it to once a month. ☺️

Not too often, maybe once a week but it’s fruits and veggies so not bad for them. I treated the whole flock with permethrin just to be safe.

Looks like worn feathers. I see some new growth coming in.
She'll grow in some new feathers once she molts (likely in the fall depending on age). Skin looks o.k.

Check her back over for lice if you had an issue with those before and if you find any, treat her with Permethrin poultry dust.

I have been having this same problem with my hens… however not all of them… I thought it was from pecking…. However it’s just continued and spread to other feathers…. It suggested to check for de pluming mites….. I have never had any parasite issues before, I have only 10 hens right now… How do I know if this is the problem?? Any help would be appreciated… I have saved some of the feathers… but they mostly look like your, and I’ve found it around their head and base of tail…. It’s very weird…

👇In the photo, the OP's bird looks to have worn feathers.
Do you have a thread where I can see your bird's feather condition?
