Weird gray stuff on yolks?

I would eat them after picking the gray blob out.

I have developed a process based on information here and elsewhere, especially for my older eggs.

I float the egg first in a 2 cup container that has a couple of inches of water above egg height when full. If the egg floats, it goes to the compost. If it sits up on end it is best for boiling as it will be easy to peel. It's a little older. If it lies down on its long side, it's very fresh and can be boiled but will be harder to peel.

Then if I am frying or baking with them I crack it into a clear custard dish. If any pieces of shell are there I can pick them out, and if there is a gray blob I can pick that out, too.

The second part is just for being really picky. The first part is because I don't eat'em as fast as they lay 'em. And when I give away extra eggs, it's always the freshest, so I eat the older ones. Don't worry, I eat fresh ones, too! But I would rather, since I am familiar with the float test, just send the more recent eggs to others. I tell them about the float test, too, in case the eggs get lost in the frij.

First laying season with 17 girls and we have seen the gray blob as well I just picked it off cooked and ate it. We've had some strange eggs one the looked like a little squash lol and I thought my crested girls were never going to lay anything but rubber eggs, 6 mons later everyone seems to have regulated a bit we still get a strange one every once and a while.
