Weird growth or infection

Chicken pus can be a semi-solid cheese like substance. It's good that the ear canal is clear.
I can only guess this may be due to injury/being pecked, but it would be hard to know.
If you have vet care, that is always best.

The swelling looks like it has a scab? You could try removing the scab and seeing if there is any pus in there to dig or squeeze out. Flush well and pack with triple antibiotic ointment.

The Tylan50 you have is it powdered or injectable?

I removed the scab because I thought perhaps a tick burrowed in there but I didn’t see anything. The scab was only surface deep like she had scratched it. It didn’t seem like a puncture. I’m doing warm compresses to try and soften the lump so I can draw the pus out. Unfortunately the nearest chicken vet is 2 hrs away and is a very expensive exotic avian specialist :( I have Tylan 50 in a powdered form. I put about 1/5 of a teaspoon in a gallon of water.

@dawg53 has good posts about removing gunk from an ear infection, and you seem to have done some of that treatment already. WyorpRock is very helpful and has good advice. I would agree that ther could be pus around the ear. If it is an infection related to a respiratory infection, the Tylan would be helpful. You may give the 50 mg injectable 1/4 ml per pound up to 3 times day for 3-5 days. Here are some links to read:

From all my notes I find that Tylan50 powdered dosage is 1 teaspoon per gallon of water.

I see, the scab may be from her scratching at it. Since it's behind the ear and not in the canal, I wonder if it did start with injury, but it would be hard to know.

Let us know how it goes with the warm compresses, if you don't have vet care, you may need to eventually lance it to see if you can get it cleaned out.

Thaks for that! I am way underdosing the Tylan 50. Will definitely up it to 1 tsp. Per gallon and will keep you guys posted on how she’s doing.

Unfortunately when I got home from work today Duchess’s infection has gotten worse :(
It is now all around her ear canal and she had some crusty pus I was able to clean out. She’s also developed 2 sores on her comb. That’s making me wonder if it’s actual a fungal problem. I’m really at a loss of what to do now. I Just upped the Tylan 50 to 1 tsp per gallon and put some drawing salve instead of triple antibiotic ointment on the infection, hoping to soften it and draw it to a head.

It would be hard to know for sure if it is fungal, bacterial, or viral without consulting a vet. The lesions on her comb might be peck wounds, or something like fowl pox scabs if you have mosquitoes. You seem to be doing a good job trying to manage her ear infection. It might take some more digging or squeezing to get the pus out of the area around the ear.
