Hi! New here! I currently own 4 EE's and 2 red sex links. My EE's are a blast and are pretty regular layers, only about 8 months old. However, about a week ago I got 13 month old red sex links. The guy I bought them from was real weird, he bought about 400 hens from some egg producers in South Florida, I got two from him and they seemed to appear healthy but I noticed their necks were bald! I checked for mites and lice and none were found, so I contacted the man I bought them from and he said they were coming out of moult. Its now May in Florida and I thought this was a weird time but I had read that large egg farms sometimes force moult (poor girls). Regardless, one hen already is looking better but hasn't laid at all! She acts normally except that she likes to lay down and sleep mid day. The other one has laid everyday or every other day but still has a bald neck and a thin feathers all around. Any idea on what to do with them? I added some layer booster to their water as well as mix in some feather fixer into their regular layer feed.

:welcome Birds from an egg production facility are generally feather pecked/plucked by the birds that they are caged with. It's a result of the overcrowding and boredom. It will take her a while to refeather. Basically you rescued them from a miserable existence.

Yeah, I figured that as well. The other girls don't go at each other like that accept for the occasional "back off my fleck of corn!" lol. Hopefully they will blossom!
