Asking for a friend. Three days ago she noticed one of her chickens (all barred rocks a little over a year old) doing an odd circular, bobbing head movement. Yesterday two more chickens starting doing the same head movements. Today she heard sneezing. She checked their crops thinking maybe it was sour crop but she isn’t sure. Any idea what it could be? They’re eating and drinking. Mainly contained in a chicken run, she said they might have gotten into tough longer grass next to their fence.

That sounds like adjusting the crop. Ask them to check the crop in early morning before they eat or drink, to see if the crop has emptied. If it feels full and hard or puffy soft, let us know. Sneezing occasionally can be normal irritation from dust, feed, ammonia odor of poop, or molds, environmental stimuli. If the same one sneezes every few minutes all day long, then that may be a respiratory disease infectious bronchitis. Head shaking, bubbles in one eye, congestion, then those could be more symptoms of something like MG.

She withheld food and water until this morning and all but one had empty crops. She isolated the one with a puffy crop and gave her water. Her crop seems to be getting smaller. She’s been massaging her crop during the day and can hear a little gurgle when she does. Gave them yogurt, egg yolk, cleaned coop/water and food containers
