So, I hatched my first batch of my own quail eggs about two weeks ago, out of 32 18 were fertile and 15 hatched (low male to female ratio, but whatever) I was expecting to get about 50% golden Italians and 50% dark pharaoh, which I did get, but I also got two pharaohs who look very weird, their wings have white stripes which none of the parents/siblings have. Is this a known coloration? Parents were 1 male golden Italian 1 male light pharaoh 4 females golden Italian and 8 females very dark pharaoh.

Pics! Pics pics pics

Hey! I was just wondering how you were doing.

Share some pics of these two please.

Plus be aware that colours will change as the quails grow up. So it may be better to wait until they change their baby feathers with the new ones and then determine the color.
Hello everyone, sorry if I'm a bit late ahah, they are now 3 weeks old and completely feathered up, I'll share some pics of them in a minute :)

It was kinda hard to get pics that would show the weird patterns on their back while holding them ahah, but these pics should do it. Also, the coloration of one of the two has changed a bit, it's now like a pharaoh, but with the pattern of golden Italians and with random white spots all around the back, and I also found a second weird coloration, it looks like a golden but it has a lot of black, he actually looked like he was gonna be a pharaoh when he was born, but he became this instead

I was sure you were just talking about the white primary gene but nope, those indeed a weird new pattern I haven't seen.

Wannttttttttt. They're gorgeous! Nice work.
It's also kinda hard to distinguish the males from females, it looks like they have speckles on their chest feathers like females would have but the back color is red-ish like a male's would be, so I'll probably have to vent sex them... Super excited about these guys
