Hi,

All of my chickens are brown egg layers - australorps, red star, welsummer cross (olive Egger that ended up laying speckled brown instead of green), and I have one Whiting true blue who of course lays blue eggs.

Today I went to collect eggs and found this weird, washed out egg that is almost a pinkish cream color. None of my hens have ever laid an egg that color. I was reading that it could be related to all kinds of things…stress, temperatures (we went from a storm with windchills of 20 below to 40 degree weather so it’s been nuts here), illness, parasites. All the hens are about 9 months old, so I don’t think it’s age related.

What should I be watching for in my chickens going forward? Is the egg itself safe to eat?

Very interesting, I have heard the color goes on the egg as they are laid, once I got a specked egg, your flick is still young could be youth. if this is true ałł the things you listed are very possible.
