Weird pale egg from brown egg layers

I agree. My Australorp eggs can be a real range. Anywhere from a pale cream, to fairly dark tan, to Pink! The bloom can really vary and change the appearance big time. That said, I also just got a pretty light, speckled egg that appears to have had "the dye applicator malfunction" lol Looks beautifully speckled like my Welsummers, but just lacks the final spray of dark terracotta. I'm sure they all fry up nice!

I'll add that young layers and layers late in their egg laying season seem to run low on "ink."

It's the Australorp's egg. They will be pale all the time.

I had that happen in my Welsummer. They are laying for the first time - took them a few eggs to get the system down - my larger Welsummer had a lot of soft shelled eggs. She seems to be making perfect beautiful eggs now. The food is the same as for my olive Egger… who from day one - her first egg was PERFECT and huge. I was expecting fairy eggs. But just got pale soft shelled eggs. But it’s been a week since they started and everyone is laying nice healthy eggs now - and they are all laying in the nest boxes too … HOW DO THEY KNOW WHAT TO DO? Hahah.

I have Barred Rocks. Most of the time, I get the usual tan or light brown eggs. Every so often, I'll get an egg that is very pale, almost white. I really enjoy seeing the variety in colors when I go out to collect eggs.

Hi,

All of my chickens are brown egg layers - australorps, red star, welsummer cross (olive Egger that ended up laying speckled brown instead of green), and I have one Whiting true blue who of course lays blue eggs.

Today I went to collect eggs and found this weird, washed out egg that is almost a pinkish cream color. None of my hens have ever laid an egg that color. I was reading that it could be related to all kinds of things…stress, temperatures (we went from a storm with windchills of 20 below to 40 degree weather so it’s been nuts here), illness, parasites. All the hens are about 9 months old, so I don’t think it’s age related.

What should I be watching for in my chickens going forward? Is the egg itself safe to eat?

My 2 youngest laid their first eggs yesterday!!!..and they are weird. And all my hens are brown egg layers...so I think it's just because it's a first attempt.?
The picture is what I normally get, on top, while the ones underneath we are assuming are Mildreds, a 6 mos Delaware White and Tooter is 5.5 mos RIR.
Thoughts??
