Definitely pick up some chick grit, it’s only a couple bucks and you should be able to find it at any farm store(chain or local). Make sure to get chick grit not regular grit, that’s too big for them. Also steer clear of crushed oyester shells as grit(also sold at farm stores) as it has WAY too much calcium for babies. I like the DuMor insoluble chick grit, it’s avaible at both my local and chain stores. If they are eating anything besides crumble and don’t spend a lot of time outside in areas that have small pebbles you need grit. The poop could just be cecal or maybe Coccidiosis but I wouldn’t rush to that if you don’t see a lot of bubbling or reddish coloration. Either way, get some grit and keep us posted!I’m not sure what chicken grit is so no?
but I do have wood shavings that I bought from a wood shop on facebook as bedding and I do see them picking it
About the heat, chicks at 2 weeks old need about 32 degrees Celsius(someone correct me if I’m wrong, been a couple years since chicks). If it’s only 16-20 degrees I would keep the heat lamp on. If they are super spread out and peeping loudly or panting they are probably too hot, if they are hundled to together an are shivering they are probably cold. I would wait to move them outside till they are fully feathered. I would wait to feed them any dairy products until they are older and even then I’d keep it limited. Make sure you aren’t feeding a crazy amount of lettuce to them, it’s a nice thing but isn’t nessary and you don’t want them to fill up on lettuce and not eat enough chick starter, they need that to grow properly.View attachment 2407834Im not sure if this is normal or not I still keep my 23 day old chicks inside the house and one of them learned how to fly on top of the container that I keep them in and he pooped to times will roosting on the edge and I wasn’t sure if this amount of poop or even the way it looks is normal/ not that I know what normal isso I feed them chick starter and treat them to some lettuce
but also fed them a little macaroni and it is winter where I live but getting in to summer I still have a heat lamp over them not sure if I still should?? and also the weather is been like 16 to 20 degrees Celsius so I also don’t know when to move them out in the backyard and turn the heat lamp off.
