We have 4 month-old chicks and two of them lay often lay on their side to sleep. It looks so weird. Is that normal? They seem totally fine and happy otherwise. One is a Rhode Island Red and one is a White Auracana.

Thanks!

Nothing is really a weird question when it comes down to it. Yes that is normal, they dust bathe that way also. It looks like they are flopping around and rolling in the dirt.

Is this inside or out side the coop? Inside they should be roosting, out side the coop it's normal and fun to watch. Ours lay on sides back you name it lol. They love to lay on cool dirt and they dig holes to get deeper and lay.

Whew, glad to know we have "normal" chickies.

Thanks everyone!

And to answer the last question, yes it is always outside on the ground but only two of them do it. It is very amusing.

We have a nice comfy bench under a tree>>>
