I candied my quail egg this morning, it’s day 16 today and expected to not see much, maybe an internal pip or 2 but instead I found this? Btw I used a humidifier to make the closet the same humidity as the bator.

It’s some odd shadowing in the eggs that doesn’t have a fixed shape. Just in case I added safety holes but they’ve been like this for about 1 1/2 days. Should I be worried?
The red is the shadow outline and the blue is the air cell outline.

A wavy air cell is fairly common in quail eggs, I don’t see anything odd but it could be 5he picture. Poking holes randomly in a lockdown egg is not a good idea, especially in quail, the eggs can easily dry out and shrink wrap the chick. If I have a backwards pipped chick I may widen the hole slightly but otherwise it is rarely helpful and might be harmful. The egg is red and full, that is what you want at this stage, just be patient and let them do their thing.

I agree, I would give it plenty time to absorb the yolk sack before trying to help it.
I have helped them several times, but not before giving them time to absorb the yolk sack, and they were fine.
