I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right area, but it has to do with my county's open poultry show so..... According to the rules in the poultry section, while your chickens are staying at the fairgrounds, they are fed by poultry barn supervisors. And they are fed the same feed. Does this seem strange to anyone else, or is this commonplace? what is the reason that a person cant feed there own chickens? and cant a food change that sudden really mess up the birds? The last time I exhibited a chicken was 18 years ago for 4-H. But I'm pretty sure we handled our own animals, and fed them ourselves. It doesn't matter this year since my birds are way too young, but I'm still very curious about this

Its common here. Various groups such as 4H, FFA or local clubs take turns feeding them. I don't see why you couldnt show up every day and feed your own birds since they belong to you.

As I read through my post, my last line appeared a little harsh. I didn't mean it to be. Sorry if anyone took it that way.

Didn't take it that way at all. I'm just really baffled by this. I'm not the smartest guy in the world but 1) what does it teach having other people take care of your animals for you while you're off at the midway w/ friends ( referring to Jr fair only. 2) I just wouldn't trust my animals welfare to someone else or someone else's feed
I may just be missing something here, so if you or anyone else can clear this up for me please do. I really don't want to appear clueless but in this case I am
