My rooster jumped into my horses trough. Sprayed water everywhere when I tried to save it! GRRRR. Silly silkie roo.

"Style" is the key word hereI've just never known a roo with such a peculiar, ineffective style.![]()
Oh yes, he's definitely a lover not a fighter!"Style" is the key word here![]()
Oh, I'm so relieved Ferdy isn't the only crazy chook in the coop!Yes, a couple of my roos do that. Not every morning though. But they will have a session every day. Staring each other down and circling every once and a while, and then it randomly ends.
Just noticed the same behavior from my Black Star! I assumed she was broody with the trilling and soft clucking while she was throwing shavings on her back. Glad I’m not the only one! Came here looking for this.I've noticed hens that are ready to lay an egg or go broody will start throwing soft things onto their back like straw, pine shavings, leaves, etc.
Seems like he's helping to make a nest for the ladies, what a good gentleman!Dewy, my younger rooster, got in one of the new nesting boxes and was scratching around as if he were making himself a bed. I didn't even have these set up yet, just stacked there for a minute till I could get them into place. Silly bird, nesting boxes are for hens!
