Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I've owned both Australorps and Wyandottes over the years, and given the lay rate of the two breeds (in my experience, 5-6 eggs per hen per week for the Australorps, 3-4 eggs per hen per week for the Wyandottes average over the year), 12 hens should be enough to give you 4 dozen eggs per week. Do you know if anyone is selling pulletsor young hens in Arkansas? I have found 8 pullets here locally but would like 4 to 6 more pullets and 1 rooster.

I would suggest contacting members in your area on our Arkansas thread at https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/819985/arkansas-meet-ups-swaps-and-such. Some of them may be able to help you. Good luck in locating some pullets and a rooster in your area.
