Welcome Home, Chicks! *Warning- pic heavy!*

Oh my goodness! There has been much excitement in the make-shift coop. Strange humans have been coming in and out of the coop and cleaning out waterers, giving the chicks and Miss Henny yummy things, and picking the chicks up! That's the worst of all! Who knows where the giant creatures will be taking them! Nowhere, but the little chickies haven't figured that out yet. Yes, UnderHisWings and I have been picking them up. They're too cute to resist!

I know we probably shouldn't yet, but I HAVE TO!!!!! :p

Oh yes, and there was that terrible time when one of the chicks was just walking around and suddenly, he couldn't find Mommy! He had wandered out the door which was cracked open a bit. That was my fault...

Well, anyway, he was out there all by himself and Mommy had disappeared! It was the End of the World!!!!! And what happens when it's the end of the world? You cry. And cry is exactly what that little chick did. Well, really, it was more like yelling with all his might. Anyway, that got the attention of the big humans, and they ran towards him. "Oh no! They are going to catch me and take me away from Mommy forever!" thought the little chick. So, he ran towards the cinder block that helped to keep the door closed. (It's sort of a wacky coop/brooder box. I'll try to get pictures of it up later). He tried to fly up onto it, but his wings just weren't big enough. One of the people was chasing him around and finally caught the little fellow. "Where are they taking me?!?!" cried the chick. The person dropped him into pine shavings. It turned out that he was at the opposite end of the coop from his mommy. "Mommy!" he shouted, and came running over to her. And all the world was right again.

HI! I love mamas and chicks.

You had asked about adding chicks to your mama and her current chicks... I think, you may have to sneak them in at night. She might not take them. I have had a hen get really really ticked off when I tried to slip her some chicks and she was bent on killing them. I ended up giving the chicks to a guaranteed acceptor, a silkie. LOL. Some hens will adopt other chicks no problem, some will not. I have even a hen who tries to steal other hens chicks, and hens who don't want other chicks near them. SO, be careful, make sure she isn't going to freak out and attack... SO, give her the night time slip in.. Just be prepared for her to not take them.

OH! Don't have to much fun with them chicks... hehe. LIke, how can you help it right? LOL
