Welcome to the Round Table

Heme iron is most easily absorbed by the body so craving meat like that makes perfect sense. Liver is the best source of it but a lot of people can't handle the flavor.
You know I just looked at the iron supplement, the one and only I have been able to stomach...it has plant iron sources AND liver listed. That must be why I can actually stomach it🤦

Oh yeah I'm not sure if I'm that dedicated😅
I don't know if you've only tried beef liver, but other types of liver are often not as bitter tasting. Chicken liver is pretty mild, for example. Or soaking the liver in a bowl of milk overnight before cooking them helps with the bitterness.

Well my husband is already convinced that I'm part werewolf because of my sudden meat urges so I am sure he will be thrilled to find bowls of organs soaking in our fridge😂 I am going to try that!

I don't mind other organs when I'm craving meat, but so far the taste of liver I am not fond of. Maybe if I force myself to eat it enough I will eventually not mind the taste.
I've found some braunschweiger at my local store (USA) that includes liver, and is fairly high in iron. I like it in a sandwich, between slices of warm buttered toast.

And I sort-of like chicken livers, if I fry them in butter, then put them between buttered toast with a nice pile of onions that were also fried in butter (but I fry the onions in different butter, not with the liver.)
