Well….We got er done!!

Hi drmom,

The weldmesh (wirecloth) sits on top of the ground and is pegged down with steel hooks. The predators we have in Great Britain i.e. Foxes and Badgers tend to dig at the base of the Run/Fence/Cage, when they meet the weldmesh they will give up and look for easier food, they are opportunist and won't spend time trying to tunnel underneath the mesh.

The mesh apron is 10 inches wide and goes all around the perimeter of the House and Run, it's 16 guage thickness so a lot lot thicker than chicken mesh.

Hope this helps, any more questions just ask.

Mark.

Thanks, that really helps.

Fowler,

Would you believe that --"back when" circa 1940-1953, I was raised on a commercial chicken farm but now need your ideas for coop to resemble yours. Can you sell me plans or sketches with dimensions, please? You rear opening /clean out ideas a great. You may e-mail me at <[email protected]> Many thanks and best wishes, Overbore.

Since I was raised in the Pocono Mountains, your landscapes look very familiar. As does the snow--- Your hinged, slanted board walk way is a great idea as is the total opening rear. Many thanks!

Overbore,

That coop isn't mine. I was actually wondering whose it was? Does anyone know the username of the person whose coop I linked above?

I'm also in a northern climate and would like to know a few more details. I like that the run is wrapped in plastic too. Makes loads of sense for overwintering.

Ok, so I showed this coop to my father in law--and guess what, they are building it for me today!

My FIL is pretty handy so he has figured out all the measurements.

Except, we are doing 12x8, 6 feet tall. And the hen house will be 4x? I don't know, I didn't ask! LOL. I'm guessing 4x8, but I'm not sure!

I'm trying to keep a list of everything they've bought, if it helps anyone!

I'll post pics when they are through. Even being a photographer, mine won't be that pic heavy though! LOL.
