We've been frustrated that one, if not two, of the three chicks we got for this season are roos. We were counting on more eggs.

Yesterday we found one of our big hens injured. She's now in isolation to restrict her movement. I went to the feed store to pick up a packet of vitamin/electrolyte powder for her and came home with six chicks.

Damn chicken math.

I started off with 3 game hens and a Red phoenix Rooster. (4)

A hawk got 2 of the hens.

=2

Sis-in-law's dog got the rooster =1 hen

Hen hatched 13 biddies=14

3 Biddies didn't make it=12

Something possessed me, got 3 RIR, 2WW, 2 SLW, 2GLW, 2BO chicks, 3 teenage Araucaunas=26

Mama hen found a new home=25

Game biddies got CRD, take away 11=14

Went to TSC, couldn't resist. Bought 1 RIR, 2TetraTints, 2Welsummers=19

Went back the next week to TSC, fell in love with the black babies, bought 2 Black Stars=21

And now that my Chicken Math has been explained, I've been threatened with divorce if I bring another home. I'm sure gonna miss him!

Mine wasn't as severe as you guys. I went to pick up 4 and came home with 6. So far. Don't say so far to my husband, he would kill me.
