I have been tearing out my hair trying to get the temp stable on the 'loaned' LG bator

and havent even gotten started on getting the humidity right , so built a "Miss Prissy - Model EM". That makes 5 bators all told and MANY thermometers and hygrometers, which - you guessed it - NEVER read alike! I calibrate the hygrometers, but that leaves the thermometers! I don't have access to a lab-quality thermometer calibrator, so what's a hatchaholic to do??

This morning it hit me! I own a King-Suro 20 incubator which performs flawlessly and IS factory [quality-controlled] set with calibrated temp [+/- 0,5*] and humidity. If I put my various equipment inside that and leave long enough to stabilize, I will know how far off the thermometers are and can make adjustments just like I do with the hygrometers

I have also decided that life is too short to deel with unneccesary frustration! I am going to return the LG to it's owner and stop fooling with it!! I just need to create mor bators!

I have gotten into a barter agreement with a young man who has a free range flock -- He is needing to replace stock, tried hatching his own [w/the LG] w/little luck so decided to purchase replacements. I offered to hatch eggs for him in return for eating eggs and a few hatching eggs. I have the Suro and 2 Hova-Bators that were given to me, so can manage 8 dozen eggs, He gave me his LG to use as he wants chicks by the 100's.

I love my Suro, and only trust it to hatch my "special [bantam] eggs", but it isn't all that challenging

so I also enjoy using the others, and am making some of my own.............

I am hatching some large fowl for friends, will be hatching some quail and Guinea Fowl, also for friends.

The LG started out as a challenge, now it's just a hassle. I'd rather spend my emotional energy on a home-made bator I am invested in.
