Well, first set of eggs are in, theyre now on day two. i pulled three out to candle just to see what things looked like, i can see the yolk and a small air pocket above on the big end. neat. ill try again on day 4 or 5 to see if there are any veins yet, and see about getting pics with my DSLR for you guys as well! These are shipped eggs from ebay, thirteen silkie eggs. hope the hatch rate ends up in my favor, but i wont get my hopes up till later on in the incubation period.

I also got six Golden Buff eggs and ill add those tonight. They will hopefully be our primary layers and eventual meat chickens. i got those guys from a local friend as a security in case the silkies didnt pan out as id hoped.

The first set will be due to hatch on Apr. 6th, while the second would be due Apr. 8th.

give or take im sure. Wish me luck!! I really enjoy browsing this forum!

Candled just moments ago, and in three i saw veins! I didnt want to check them all at the same time, ill check and mark tomorrow night so i know which ones to watch for infertility through the incubation process.

I do have a question, how safe/unsafe is it to leave bad eggs and the time duration? I see posts saying toss at day 14, and that is what i was planning, but i dont want to act if theres generally not a lot of risk to the other eggs. With snake eggs, molding eggs generally dont really affect the other eggs, they can be removed, but its not necessary, so with chicken eggs, i am unsure. I dont want any exploding eggs ive been reading about.

Im pretty excited. I guess im doing something right! hopefully!
