I've been checking this site for any emergency situations and random questions, but figured I could actually check in finally.
So, hello! I live on a small farm in South Jersey. I am young and learning all about this farming life. We've owned 15 acres for ten years with sheep, horses, chickens, and a small garden. Since I've come home from college almost three years ago I've been working at making us more sustainable while expanding our chicken operation. We now have 6 Welsummers, 8 Cuckoo marans, 3 ameraucanas, three silkie bantams and one handsome Ameraucana roo. This past year we've had a few chicks that we kept. Adding a Ameraucana/welsummer roo and hen, and a mix of ameraucana/ barred rock that gave us two roos and one beautiful black and green hen. So those are the members of our lovely little flock, for now.
We have a nice assortment of eggs from very spoiled hens and have lots of fun : )
Well that was a lot, hope to find some nice chicken people to share with !

If you go to "where am I, where are you," in the social forum, you can locate and post on your state thread. That way you hear news of your area and have an opportunity to make friends closer to you. Also a good source for breeds that you may be able to get without shipping involvement.
