YOU all did an AWESOME job on your coop!! I love the simplicity of it , yet it has a hominess to it like an old fashioned coop!!!

Just shows how easy it can be to get into the chicken biz . I bet your post will help anyone who is debating about getting chickens ..it wll push them right over the edge to saying YES!!! I can do that!!!

Holy cow! That is one fantastic coop! Lots of space and full of functionality, and can only be built in 3 hours? OMG! Please post your coop in BYC's coop section! We would love to see how you built it.

Those are very neat ideas - interlocking gate, bucket nest boxes, feeder(I need to know how you did that! Seriously!), and lots more. Your chickens sure are in paradise. Congratulations!

All they did was bought hanging feeders and used heavy string and attached them to the cross beams for the roof.​

This is sooo funny that I saw your post. I was just telling my mom about 1 minute ago about taking 5 gallon buckets and cutting the lids in half for the nest boxes. I was going to ask everyones opinions on this. I see it is working fine for you. Just need to get the husband's view. I want to order them in red, green, yellow and 2 blue. Screw them to the wall and cut the lid in half like you did.

I am 25 and everyone thinks I am crazy for getting chickens so I was bouncing my ideas off my mom. Thanks for the pictures.

I love your coop and run!!!
We have an old chain link dog pen that is just begging to be used!
We have six chickens that are about 4 weeks old. We've had them in an old rabbit cage but they're getting really cramped now, we may have to cut the cage out from around them pretty soon!

I need to know how to make something a little less involved and smaller that will cover the chickens, food, nesting boxes and cover them from rain and wind. Does anybody have any suggestions? We'll probably use rough sawn lumber to build anything we need. Also, what bedding did you use for your run and coop? Thanks bunches!

This post is what gave me the idea to take my dog kennel and use it as my run and the ladder style roost with 2 x 4's that I'm going to put eye bolts on the ends that rest up against the coop for easy removel for cleaning out the coop.

I plan on putting hardware cloth attached to the inside of the run on the bottom 2' with an apron that goes under to the outside 12-15" to make it more day time preditor proof. I lock the chicks up at night.
