The Beltsville was bred using White Holland, White Austrian, Narragansett, Bronze, and Wild Turkey. The black feather could have come from any of the last 3. You don't want to use that for a breeder.

I asked Kevin Porter before about that and he told me the only way to 100% tell which one is carying the black gene is to breed them to a pure solid black turkey. If they are pure the offspring would be either solid black or solid white. If they have a mix it you would get a mottled black/white. If you ever want to know about turkey color genetics he is the one to ask.
