Well I finally broke down

    I now am the proud father of 9 RR chics and only one is a roo.

    They are about a week old. Picked them up from my local feed store.

    They are eating and drinking and cheeping...and are a crackup even the WIFE held one and she wanted nothing to do with them.

    My grandsons think they are the coolest!!

    Now to finish the coop!, got the wall framed in the shed the run is just about finished.....always more work!!!!

    give then some scrambled eggs (1 is plenty) and make sure everyone is there to watch, it's like chickies on crack.

    a crumbled hard boiled egg is better. Scrambled eggs can have too much oil or salt depending upon what you use on the pan, oil or butter. If you have a pan that you can scramble eggs in that doesn't require something to help it not stick, then that's OK.

    Hopefully you'll get a broody or better yet once they start laying, you can incubate your own replacement chicks.

    My grandfather always said that RIR roos at 16 weeks made the best of fryers.
