Today i went and bought myself an incubator it is a hova bator. now my husband has to extend my coop and run earlier than planned lol. i am getting it regulated and when i do i will be placing between 17 and 25 eggs to start with just to test run and make sure i am doing everything right. I got 17 eggs so far today so when the bator is ready i should have enough.will keep you informed on how everything goes. my cousin is also wanting me to hatch her 40 chicks so my bator will be working over time lol

Congrats on the new incubator and soon to be fuzzy butts!

Congrats. Yes the screws get hot! No worries! Vent plugs used to regulate humidity...all depends where you are and your humidity-if you are still or forced air...hope you have a digital humidity/temp thingy...and not the one it came with!
And...just a warning...incubators are like tater chips...ya cant have just once...youll have 12 and then by next year youll be shopping the$600 sportsman models.

I leave one of the vent plugs out and have 3 of the water troughs filled, with the vent plugs out you get better exchange of fresh air. I have hatched with the 1602N for the better part of last year it worked well for me all year long. I have mine full of quail eggs right now I just fired up one of my homemade bators for a batch of chicken eggs.

i guess it is still air i did not buy the fan kit and i live in mississippi . the temp is steady at 100 degrees and i have not seen any problems with prespirtion from to high of hummidity do you still think i should take the vent plugs out it said to do that if you live 6000 feet above sea level and i am no where near 6000 feet above sealevel
