I checked the spycam and I have a den of coyotes only 20 feet from the back of the chicken run. Talk about a "birds eye view"!

So... what would you do? Shotgun, rifle, poison? Do I have to sit out there and wait for it to come out and if so is it going to catch my scent and not come out. It came out of its den at one in the morning and went back in about 4:30.

And I am NOT going to fall for the old "smear coyote poop on me"! No way!!

Really, what is th best method to send it on to a much better place? If you don't want to post it on here, please PM me. Thanks!!

Shoot it! Oh yeah can we see the pics?

I don't know how to load the spycam onto the internet... or I would. There were only 4 pictures of it in the 3 and a half hours.

But I would shoot it if I could. I took the shotgun to a feral cat last night but I don't think I got it. I caught it on the spy cam stealing....
goose and duck eggs.

That was hard to believe and if I hadn't seen the darn cat on there doing it I would never believe a cat could make off with a goose egg!

So I baited 2 more duck eggs out there and caught it on the cam. Now the coyote! Sheesh. The DH saw one make off with a young chicken the other morning but I have kept them all penned since. Guess that is why it has moved closer.

Don't use poison. Gets into the food chain and can kill animals you don't intend it to. Poisoning them is illegal where I live due to the bald eagles.

Hello all you Predator hunters: Any input? I really am not sure how to go about this. Do I just sit out there in a chair until it comes out?

How close to the den can I get and it still come out? Would foot traps or live traps work? I have cats and a dog not to mention geese and peacocks who might set the foot traps off. I could pen the cats up so they didn't set a live trap off but I just can't see a coyote going for a live trap.

I would have to spring the foot traps everyday and reset everynight.

I thought about baiting them with a cull bird, should I put that in a trap or stake it outside and wait?

Get a predator call and use it. Regardless of the time of day I doubt if a coyote would be able to resist a free meal. We've used them before while coyote hunting and they come running when they hear it.

You may try to use an MP3 player with some of these calls. Should do the trick.

Thank you! I will go to Sportsman today and get one--I would never have known about that if you hadn't told me and I really appreciate your taking the time out to help!

I had a bout with a pack of 6 coyotes at my place. Trapping them is the more humane method....but around here there is no place to take the live ones without putting someone else out with the problem. I went the "shoot the suckers" method. I would take a half pound of hamburger meat, let it set out for a day or so, just where it starts to get ripe. The coyotes were taking up residence in an old abandon barn up on a hill behind my property, so I would place the hamburger about half way between the barn and my back porch about 45 mintutes before dark and park my fanny on the back porch with a cold beverage and wait..........low and behold they would send one down to sniff out the bait. BANG!!! one down. Waited a while longer and sure enough here come another one to investigate...BANG, there's two down. Got a third before they figured it out. I got rid of all of them within a month like that. I use a small hunting rifle with a scope....seems to do the trick.

Hope this helps!! WV Hillbilly...
