I hate it that you have lost some of your beautiful stock to coyotes, Germaine. That is just awful! I am no help at all, but I just want you to know I am soo sorry for your losses.

I hope you get them, one way or another!

If you go the flare route, after tossing it in, go to your coop with the shotgun and be ready. 10 yards should be suffcient for your shotgun, since you know where they live. Watch for smoke coming from a second entrance. Do not create a crossfire incident if you have more than one gun, so keep the two shooters together. Hevi-shot (brand name) makes some coyote specific shotgun shells that work well. Also try #4 or #1 buck. More pellets.

When setting up a calling station we'll generally have one rifleman and one shotgunner, as we have had them come within 7 yards before we got a clean shot.
