Well it finally happened

Sorry for your loss, i've been keeping my girls in with all the snow we've been getting in NY. Their's a pair a redtails hanging out a little to close for comfort besides..! The crows that are here most of the time weren't around today, i guess their taking cover in this blizzard we had today. Those hawks sure weren't taking the day off...!! I don't have a covered run, but lots of evergreen trees for cover, the hens had no interest in coming out in the snow anyway. They seemed very content to stay in.Again, sorry for your loss....

I'm sorry for your loss.
I know how you feel. It happen to me the same. When I first started I didn't know any better, never even thought about hawks, so I did not covered my run. One day my gorgeous 5 month old Mille du Fleur D'Uccle Bantam disappeared, only some feathers left. Few days later, I was working in the yard when I heard commotion. As I looked, I saw the hawk seating on a fence post with my beautiful silver seabright in his claws. I ran there as fast as I could, screaming like a lunatic. The hawk dropped my little girl and flew away. It was to late, she was death. Tractor supply has a very solid deer net ($80 for a 7ftx100) and it was the best thing I could ever use.
