lol 30 more minutes and ill leave its a good time and i think they will love it still a bit scared but they cant stay cooped up forever (no pun intended) ill let everyone know how it goes hopefully good.

Oh, how exciting! I just let our babies out to free range for the first time just a little over a week ago. They LOVE it! At first, they were a little hesitant to step outside, so I physically them outside for the first few days. (Yes, I'm so patient, I know.) Now most of them bustle out by themselves, and I only have to go in and nudge a few of them out (though they'd probably go by themselves after a while).

You will be so proud that first time they all come back in to roost on their own! I certainly was!

I just let mine out today in a little fenced in area. How old before I can let them free range? Mine are ~6 weeks. I've lost track of their actual age. oops.

this year i had to fence off my front flower beds under my windows with plastic chicken wire, but it was a great thing! when my baby buffs were ready to go out (5 weeks?), i put them in the enclosed flower beds and was able to sit at my computer and hear them/watch them. and they kept close because of my voice on the phone. lots of jumping, wing flapping, and scaring each other when they came out from under a shrub - boo! don't forget to put in a pan of water and some crumble if they are out for more than a couple of hours . . .

Mine have been going out for 3 days now. Today was the first day they all hopped out on their own immediately. Two out of the 3 days I have had a hawk swoop down on them-not good!!

THEY LOVED IT TO DEATH they didnt want to go back in they scratched around got bugs they all gathered around the door wanting to be let out it was so cute

I have not let my chickens free range yet. They are in a fenced area (top covered too) Although I have a six foot privacy fence I was afraid one would get spooked and fly up and over the fence into a neighbors yard and be lost. How would I avoid this? How do you get them to come in at night? I would love to let mine have the free range of the yard safely and I know they would love to be able to get to the rest of the grass, they have eaten all there was in their pen.
