I peeked out the window into my chicken run to talk to the girls and Reu my 15 week BO cockerel and.. um.. caught him in the act. He hasn't even attempted to crow that I know of and as of yesterday my hens where chasing him around if he got anywhere near them.
So my question is.... When would it be worth it to try hatching eggs?
I know most animals have decreased fertility when they are very young. All of my hens are Red Stars and could care less about going broody so an incubator it is. I know the babies would be mutts but in all honesty they will wind up on our dinner plates anyway.
Assuming we can keep the rooster that is...
