I let my hens free-range in my backyard when I am home. I just heard one making a weird sound -not the danger sound or the territorial sound, or the "let me out of this cage!" sound, so I went outside to investigate. The silly hen was in the cat litter box again, but in a weird upright position. I picked her up to get her out of the nasty litter box and noticed an egg was starting to come out of her! I held out my other hand, and she laid right into it. It was significantly bigger around than her usual eggs, so no wonder she was making that sound. I now call it the "get this thing out of me NOW!" sound.
