Well this is one way to put the High Desert on the Map

WOW! I hate to admit it, but I've never seen a desert in person. Only on tv or in movies. Shoot, I've never been farther west than Beaumont, TX and that was for all of about an hour! Maybe when my DD gets older, she and I will take a road trip out to that side of the US...I'd also like to go on a tornado chase...course, they would have to feed me valium the whole way cause I would be scared to death!

On a side note: You are the first person that has called me Doodle. My dad nicknamed me that when I was a kid cause I loved to aggrevate the "doodlebugs" that we had down in NC. I don't know if you know what I'm talking about but they dig a hole in the sand and when they are done, it kinda looks like a funnel in the sand. You can take a small twig or a pine tree needle and gently drag it in the sand and the doodlebug will grab it and pull it under the sand. I haven't see one of those in YEARS!

Ok, now back to the topic at hand, sorry (again) to hijack....please don't kill me and hide my body in the desert...

HEY!!! You have sand! (Smacking myself in the forehead....it IS the desert! duh) Maybe you have doodlebugs... It looks like you have a great view. I love the flowers especially the blueish/purple ones. All the pics I have of around here are on my other computer tower and it is in the shop. I will have to mark this thread and post ya a few pics of my part of WV.

btw: I don't miss the sand!

We actually had them (The really flat kind) in our yard when I was a little girl down in NC. My mom worked in the yard every evening after dinner and on weekends to get rid of them and the sandspurs. I stepped on quite a few of them.

Is that your chicken pen in the last pic? I've been filling my parents in on my ideas for my chicken coop and Dad has been picking on me about building a mansion for my chickens (the ones I haven't gotten yet....cause the coop can't be built yet....due to the neverending snow...

Debi,

Your pictures reminded me of our last DUTY STATION. We were in Fort Irwin... right off Barstow. In fact, one of my kids was born there. We would make monthly trips to Victorville, since Barstow isn't the most family-friendly place there is. I remember FREAKING OUT when DH pointed out that the movie Erin Brockovich took place in that area. You couldn't make me drink the water from base. LOL Thankfully it only laster three years and then we made our way back home to Texas (only to be followed by another two year stint in Arizona! AAAH!)
