Now I make sure first few loads are all white.

Yep black jeans and black shirts dont do to well if you forget the washer.

I maintain the well system where we live. It's a small co-op with only 40 houses. The government requires trace amounts of chlorine. I keep ours to the minimum requirements and it can't be tasted. The chlorine also dissapates quickly once it's exposed to the atmosphere. I put about a tablespoon of avc in the waterer to help keep the slime down.
