Well we did it...now what to expect

We made a seperate small coop outside with the rest of the flock today and moved the 4 week olds to their new home. The older birds can't get to them, but they can see each other to get to know each other. Now for the $400 question - will my older ones stop laying for a while. I really need one more egg for dinner!

No. The young ones should not affect the older birds. They should continue to lay if they are laying now.

Ditto, I didn't see any difference when I added my 'nursery' of 2 week old chicks to my main coop in June, nor did I have issues when I added an adult hen (without benefit of transition period, I know, it was stupid, but thankfully it worked out OK).

I guess its all moot now. My turken, who is very tiny, laid an egg.
