with 57 guinea eggs in it!!

I love my husband, don't get me wrong....but I've been trying to explain to him that if you let the guineas out at 6am, they're not going to lay INSIDE. And they haven't. So for months we've been searching high and low over 35 acres of property to find our hidden guinea nest.

Well our 9 year old grandson found one! Behind the biggest raspberry bush we have on our property! LOL Didn't stop him from getting under there. Nor hubby. When mama guinea was off the nest, they got under there and raided it. She was sitting on 57 eggs. They took 37 and left her 20.

So I have 37 guinea eggs in my incubator.

YAY!!

Sounds like the same story we're going to have with our chickens one of these days... out of 28 hens I'm getting 12-18 eggs a day...I even made DH look in the center of the 40 year old lilac bush because I thought I saw the dog sniff something in there. I'm going nuts looking for these dang eggs!

Guineas seem to lay around noon. Letting them out early is fine - unless you want to keep them in all day. Have fun with your eggs and babies. If you have a good candler guinea eggs are real fun to watch develop.

We have 8 guinea all over a year old, 2 males, 6 females, and NONE are laying in the house. They live with our chickens, but the chicken pen borders the goat pen and the goats have now broken the fence between the two pens. I gave up trying to fix it so now the birds have free access to the goat pen, and most figure out how to get into the yard, either by jumping the goat fence or sliding through the gate.

I'm going nuts trying to figure out where the nest(s) are as we've seen our guineas at the front and rear of our property - 28 acres in an "L" shape - and our house is right in the middle!!!

We now have 2 guinea hens sitting on the nest. If you approach the raspberry bush, one comes out at you, wings out, screaming her dang fool head off! LOL

I figured I'd let them have the raspberries on those bushes (the bushes are about 30 ft long x 15 ft wide), we have lots of raspberry bushes all over the property that we can get fresh berries from.

Most of the eggs that hubby took from the nest are developing nicely. I really do love our guineas. We call them The Goonie Squad.
