Wellsummer rooster coloring

Hi,

I think the two that you're talking about might be ok, but I would agree - give them more time.

The one that is "much lighter" and has white in the back, is that white around the bottom of the tailfeathers area? If so, that's ok. if not, and it's truly on the back - cull it.

Pics would be nice.

God Bless,

I'm opposed to feeding cull birds any longer than necessary. I hate killing them but feeding them long to make them worthwhile is expensive. Right now I have 3 Welsummer cockerels. One I will be keeping, a second is being rehomed, and unless I can find someone who wants the third he will be put down. White on a Wellsummer isn't what you want so cull and eat the breast meat.

Are they actually white feathers? Or is the down showing through? My wellie got his tailfeathers snatched out by a would-be thief, and he has a patch of white down where his tailfeathers are starting to come in. No white at ALL on the feathers, though. Is that like what you mean?

Here is my roo at 15 weeks. See the whitish colored down at the base of the tail? I was told that was normal, is that what you are talking about?

Tammy's roo's white fluff on the base of his tail feathers would be just fine. No problem there if you have similar thing going on with the feathers.

Hope you can provide pictures then we can really decide if the white feathers are actually white feathers or white fluff (down) feathers.

If this is what you meant by white then it's normal and will disappear in a few more weeks
