Wellsummer rooster coloring

I really can't see much in the photos but I think what you are seeing as "white" is the grayish down under some of the feathers. Mine had that too and eventually it goes away. The same grayish feathers will stay at the base of the tailfeathers (on top) or so I've been told. I'm sorry if this didn't help.

That is what I was talking about. The "white" doesn't show up in the pics very well. Was more concerned about the difference in the coloring. The one rooster is a lot lighter overall than the other two.

I had four Welsummer roos.

One I posted a photo here, I think he's going to be a good looking bird as long as his comb doesn't flop over.

Another one did not have the orange hackles he was more mahogany all over...I gave him away.

Another had an all black breast...he's in my freezer.

The fourth, I also still have (unfortunately). His color is okay but he is dwarfed and has a deformed foot.

Your roo should have the orange hackles, the black feathers on his back and tail should have a "beetle green" sheen and there should be some red in the black breast. Eventually his saddle feathers will come in orangy-gold too, at least mine seems to be.

My color descriptions are probably not technically correct, but it's all I know.

ETA: Here is another photo where you can see his orange neck feathers, the orange saddle feathers coming in and his beetle green black feathers. Hope it helps...see the Welsummer pullet behind him? She has a fireant bite on her wattle.
