Welp's hatchery for 4h?

I recently joined 4h, and I'm going to be needing a new bird for the show project. They gave us a master list of all of the chick shipments this year for our local Jax. They're buying from Welp's and I wanted to ask:

Does anyone have any success/failure stories when using Welp's chicks for a show?

Are there any particular breeds that have performed poorly from Welp's?

Does anyone have any other helpful tips/advice regarding finding a show bird? (This is my first year so I don't need anything particularly expensive or competative, this is mostly for fun and the learning experience)

Obviously breeders are a safer choice for a show bird, but I haven't been able to find any near me so far, so I'm looking for alternatives.
