I have a real nice male Welsh Harlequin and four female khakis. My male khaki died and i got the Welsh Harliquin to cross with my females. Has anyone done this. What do the ducklings end up looking like.

From what I understand, the plumage color and pattern difference between these two breeds is due to one recessive gene which Welsh Harlequins have and Campbells do not. So I would expect the first generation to look like Khaki Campbells, but carry the gene for Harlequin color.

Welsh Harlequin are originally a mutatation of the Khakis. So they used to be more or less the same duck. Through breeding Welshes have become a bit more calm. From what I have seen of the Khakis I have met they to be a bit more nervous than th WH. You would basically be introducing the recessive gene into the khakis actively.

At least based on my research and understanding of the breeds.

Yes from what i have read i believe you are right. I just wasnt sure if there would be any color mutations right away. I think the welshie females are beautiful
