Welsh harlequin sex

I bought 4 sexed Welsh harlequin ducklings about 4 weeks ago. They are supposed to be female as they are a autosexing breed right at hatching. My drake is raising them and doing a fantastic job. He never leaves their side.

The pictures arent that great, but do my eyes deceive me, but is one of my she a he? The one with the darker head. Some are quacking, but i cant tell which one is when they are a pack.

Just when i thought i was finally going to have the proper ratio of boys to girls! I cant win!!

I have Welsh and though females can have darker heads, that amount of black starting from the bill and the yellowy olive bill make me think drake.

Yeah, he also is developing the darker reddish color in the chest too. Hate to say it, but he might be on the dinner menu soon. We're keeping our current drake as he's unrelated to these guys and he has been a remarkable duck. I was worried how he was going to be around these guys, but it has been amazing. He protects them like you would see the mama duck doing.
