Hello!
A few weeks ago we got these two ducklings. We were told they were about 2 weeks old (so almost 1 month old now) and she vent-sexed them to be hens, but I'm not too sure of her skill level after learning the ducks were not of the best condition after purchasing (healthy and happy now though!) They are just starting to get their feathers in and we have noticed that their heads seem to be getting darker. They haven't quacked or had a raspy voice yet. Is it too early to tell still? What do you think?

I feel like they do usually have a darker shading on their heads when they're young but it's been a while since mine were babies. I would just give them a little more time before worrying too much about gender, ducks grow fast it won't be long.

Post again in 7-10 days. You will be looking for the following -
loops vs stripes on the lower back
Green starting around nostrils and bill
Black ring of feathers around the bill

It's not long now and you will know for sure. For now they are just ducklings. Beautiful BTW.
